designArc Group was contracted for the design, bid, and construction administration of a new multi-bay ambulance garage facility for Brookings Health System. The task for the design was to provide a holistic learning, living, and working space with adequate room for each programmatic element on a budget. The exterior design was also to match the recent hospital renovations.
The exterior cladding was economized to feature primarily LP Smartside as the predominant material throughout the facility. The canopy overhanging the front entrance was clad in aluminum-composite-metal panels (ACM) with a large-scale ashlar pattern. The facility was designed to blend into the surrounding residential neighborhood with a large front yard and dark exterior palette.
