Designing Within History
Designing a brand-new hotel is often a predictable process. Most brands come with detailed standards that guide everything from room layouts to finishes. But this project was anything but ordinary.
Transforming an existing structure into a vibrant new hotel means balancing preservation and progress. Our architectural team set out to design a space that celebrates the building’s legacy while shaping its next chapter in the Sioux Falls skyline.
Designing Within Constraints
From the start, one of the biggest challenges has been fitting an efficient hotel layout within the existing grid of columns, stairs, and elevator shafts. Every detail matters when working within a historic framework, and our team has worked creatively to maximize functionality and guest comfort while maintaining the integrity of the structure.
A Modern Identity for a Historic Building
The proposed design introduces sleek metal panels and linear lighting to redefine the building’s facade. These elements give the structure a bold, contemporary character, one that reflects the energy and growth happening throughout downtown Sioux Falls.
